Enhancing Cloud Operations for a Manufacturing Enterprise
About the Manufacturing Enterprise
The client's industrial design sector faces transformation and upgrade demands. Industrial design involves numerous stages and is highly dependent on designers' creative thinking and technical abilities. Facing rapidly growing business demands and accelerating product iteration cycles, the industrial design industry broadly faces digital transformation needs, specifically: long design cycles, challenges between designers' capacity and rapidly growing business demands; fluctuating design quality, with output quality varying due to personnel skill levels and design quality affected by staff turnover.
To improve business efficiency, the client adopted an Intelligent Design (AIGC) solution in the industrial design field, implementing features including painting large models for different design categories matching brand tonality, an "AIGC Infinite Canvas" for designers and business personnel, online training and management capabilities for AI painting large models, and elastic computing architecture that scales based on user usage. The solution supports online model training and features such as design concept generation, intelligent design fusion assistance, concept focus intelligent assistance, and concept refinement intelligent adjustment.
Challenges
After the client's Intelligent Design (AIGC) business system went live, ensuring continuous operation of the system presented two challenges:
How to ensure efficient, low-cost operation of the Intelligent Design (AIGC) solution?
With insufficient internal operations personnel and a lack of staff familiar with AWS products, how to address the operations team's experience gap?
Finding a professional AWS managed services team became the client's best option.
Solution
In November 2023, after helping the client launch the "Intelligent Design (AIGC) Solution" in the AWS China Ningxia region, UltraPower transitioned the solution into the managed support phase. UltraPower provided AWS cloud resource managed services (MSP services) to the client, taking responsibility for cloud resource operations in the client's designated account in the AWS China Ningxia region. Dedicated personnel were assigned to handle the client's MSP operations. UltraPower's MSP services primarily cover 6 areas:
AWS cloud environment operations, including cloud accounts and IAM users, cloud network environments and on-premises data center interconnection, cloud security measures, and monitoring and auditing measures.
AWS cloud resource operations, supporting application system cloud resources including ELB, EC2, ECR, SageMaker, S3, etc.
Submitting cost optimization recommendations to the client (selecting appropriate instance types, purchasing RIs)
Implementing security operations baseline policies for IAM users, including configuring MFA, setting password management policies, setting access key expiration; regularly reviewing IAM activities, disabling unused IAM users
Executing compliance checks through Config, using SecurityHub to check insecure configuration items
Configuring Backup policies for EC2, performing daily backups
Implementing monitoring through CloudWatch, and sending alert notifications via SNS

UltraPower provides consulting services for public cloud and hybrid cloud architecture design, offering optimization recommendations to the client in areas such as overall architecture, application architecture, and technical solutions.
Results
Through managed services, UltraPower provided the client with optimization in high availability, backup and recovery, security and operations management, reserved instances and cost optimization. Key results include:
Reduced client costs by over 20% through selecting instance types matched to business needs and rational RI purchases
Provided high-quality 7×24 operations services through managed services, addressing the client's lack of personnel with AWS operational experience
Completed backup and recovery drills, providing effective safeguards for the client's continuous business operations
