10GB x 0.02 USD = 0.20 USD

AWS Backup is a fully managed backup service that makes it easy to centrally manage and automate backups of data across AWS services. With AWS Backup, you can centrally configure backup policies and monitor backup activity for AWS resources such as Amazon EBS volumes, Amazon EC2 instances, Amazon RDS databases, Amazon DynamoDB tables, Amazon EFS file systems, and AWS Storage Gateway volumes. AWS Backup automates and consolidates backup tasks that were previously performed by service, without requiring you to create custom scripts and manual processes. With just a few clicks in the AWS Backup console, you can create backup policies that automate backup scheduling and retention management. AWS Backup provides a fully managed, policy-based backup solution that simplifies backup management and helps you meet business and regulatory backup compliance requirements.
Benefits
Centralized Backup Management
Configure backup policies from a central backup console to simplify backup management and easily ensure that application data across AWS services is backed up and protected. Use AWS Backup's central console, API, or command line interface to backup, restore, and set retention policies for AWS services.
Automated Backup Processes
Save time and money with AWS Backup's fully managed, policy-based solution. AWS Backup supports automatic backup scheduling, retention management, and lifecycle management without requiring custom scripts and manual processes. With AWS Backup, you can simply tag AWS resources to apply backup policies, making it easy to implement backup policies across all AWS resources and ensure all application data is properly backed up.
Improved Backup Compliance
Enforce backup policies, encrypt backups, and audit backup activities in a central console to meet backup compliance requirements. Backup policies can easily align with internal or regulatory requirements. AWS Backup encrypts data in transit and at rest to ensure backup security. Unified backup activity logs across different AWS services simplify compliance auditing. AWS Backup is PCI, ISO, and HIPAA compliant.
Use Cases
Cloud-Native Backup
AWS Backup provides a central console to automate and manage backups across different AWS services. AWS Backup integrates with Amazon EBS, Amazon RDS, Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon EFS, Amazon EC2, and AWS Storage Gateway, allowing you to back up important data storage such as storage volumes, databases, and file systems.
Hybrid Backup
AWS Backup integrates with AWS Storage Gateway, a hybrid storage service that enables your on-premises applications to seamlessly use AWS cloud storage. You can use AWS Backup to back up on-premises application data stored in AWS Storage Gateway volumes. Backups of AWS Storage Gateway volumes are securely stored in the AWS cloud and are compatible with Amazon EBS, allowing volumes to be restored to the AWS cloud or on-premises environment. This integration enables you to apply the same backup policies to both AWS cloud resources and on-premises data stored in AWS Storage Gateway volumes.
Billing
With AWS Backup, you only pay for the backup storage you actually use and the amount of backup data restored during the month. There are no minimum fees or setup charges.
Monthly billed storage is calculated based on the average storage space used throughout the month. Your storage usage is measured in "GB-Month" and totaled at the end of the month to determine your monthly fee.
Monthly billed restore amount is calculated based on the amount of data restored during the month. Data restored within a month is measured in GB and represents the sum of all restores performed during the month.
Example 1:
Assume your Amazon EFS backup is stored in the US East (N. Virginia) region. You use 400GB of Amazon EFS backup storage for 15 days in April and 800GB for another 15 days. At the end of April, your backup storage usage in GB-Hours is calculated as follows:
Total usage (GB-Hours) = [400GB x 15 days x (24 hours/day)] + [800GB x 15 days x (24 hours/day)] = 432,000 GB-Hours
We sum the GB-Hours and convert to GB-Month to calculate the monthly fee:
Total monthly storage fee = 600 GB-Month x $0.05 = $30.00
Additionally, let's assume you restored 10 backups, each 1GB. At the end of April, your backup restore usage in GB is calculated as follows:
Total usage: 10 restores x 1GB = 10GB
Total monthly restore fee = 10GB x $0.02 = $0.20
Add the backup storage fee and backup restore fee to get the total monthly AWS Backup bill:
Total monthly AWS Backup bill = $30 + $0.20 = $30.20
*This applies to all backup storage except on-demand DynamoDB table backups, which create a complete backup of Amazon DynamoDB table data and settings.
